Panopto Decommission

Trent University has selected YuJa Enterprise Video platform as a replacement for the Panopto WebCasting system which has been entirely removed as of May 28th.

The University has been working to convert Panopto content to YuJa as well as integrate YuJa into their environment; a process which has now been concluded.

Textbooks – Texas State University

Follett Inc to Take Over Operation of University Bookstore

A lease contract is being negotiated between Texas State University’s Bookstore and Follett Inc., thus changing the internal management of the bookstore to a third party. This should allow for better pricing and a better availability of textbooks.

“Follett will introduce many new programs that will save students and their families money on course materials and support faculty goals,” said Alan Stratman, vice president of marketing at Follet Inc.

Slater Named Interim CIO

Western Illinois University has named Rebecca Slater, current director of University Technology-User Support Services as interim Chief Information Officer /Executive Director of University Technology effective July 1.

“Rebecca’s expertise brings a history of broad experience. Her ability to balance customer needs with the realities of technology, risk management and compliance, as well as business continuity will enable her to provide sound guidance and oversight of University Technology,” says Interim Provost and Academic Vice President Kathy Neumann.

University of New England Upgrades IT Leadership Role

The University of New England (UNE) is on the hunt for someone to lead its Information Technology Services Directorate.

Former UNE director, information technology, Robert Irving, departed in January. A university spokesperson said the vacant role had been reclassified to chief information officer “to reflect the increased demands of the role brought about by the university’s increasingly multifaceted information technology environment.”

A five-year contract is being offered by the University.
