Educause Steps In to Save New Media Consortium

Educause has submitted a $55,000 offer to acquire the assets of the now-defunct New Media Consortium, court documents reveal.

The $55,000 offer, if accepted, would see Educause acquire the NMC’s trademarks, website, membership and subscriber lists, as well as its flagship Horizon Project, which produced reports on the future of education technology.

Finding the Root Cause of ERP Implementation Failures

ERP implementation failures caused more often than not by decision-making delays, are a major risk. Delays in decision-making are cumulative, they slow progress and gradually derail the ERP project.

That’s part of the argument made in a paper, partially titled “Why Large Projects Fail,” by Jim Johnson and Hans Mulder, who are both on the faculty of the University of Antwerp Management School. Johnson is also chair of the Standish Group, a research organization that studies software projects.

e-Portfolios – Radford University

Radford University Partners with Portfolium to Bridge the Gap Between Curriculum and Students’ Professional and Personal Lives

Portfolium will provide ePortfolios and assessment to 9,400+ Radford University students and faculty to help students reflect on curricular and co-curricular experiences and help faculty better track and assess student learning outcomes.

“Portfolium is a great tool for driving our school’s mission, and to enhance civic and community engagement learning outcomes while prioritizing competency-based education,” said Charles Cosmato, Director of Radford University’s Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning. “In both students and faculty, Portfolium will increase understanding of how academic credentials relate to career destinations while also showcasing tangible evidence of academic progress.”

Financial System – Montclair State University

Workday Finance

We are pleased to announce that the University will be converting our Finance system from PeopleSoft FMS to Workday Finance, with a targeted go-live of 2020.

The decision was made after extensive review of the University’s needs—most notably the requirements for more timely financial reporting, ease of use, and improved business processes for such priorities as grants management, procurement, accounts payable, and travel and expense reimbursement.

Learning Management System – University of Missouri-Kansas City

UMKC Dropping Blackboard for Canvas

Lyndsey Magrone of UMKC’s Instructional Technology Services provided some specifics on exactly what led to the overhaul.

She cited “a more modern and intuitive user interface, more engaging grading and communication tools and a stable and proven cloud-based architecture” as its benefits.

This transition brings UMKC into a part of the nationwide shift in learning management systems.

Piedmont International University Selects the Jenzabar One Student Information System
