WeWork Companies (“WeWork”) and 2U, Inc. today announced a multi-year, global, exclusive partnership to enhance the future of work and learning. Through this partnership, WeWork will provide students in 2U-powered online graduate programs Global Access Memberships to WeWork spaces around the world; 2U will offer $5 million in scholarships to help WeWork community members and employees access 2U’s partner portfolio of world class graduate programs and GetSmarter’s online short courses; WeWork and 2U will co-create a Future of Learning and Work space to open in 2019; and WeWork will license Flatiron School’s proprietary Learn.co technology to 2U.

Portfolium, a leading cloud-based ePortfolio platform that enables students to capture, curate, and convert skills into attractive job offers, has today announced it has partnered with Virginia Tech through their University Libraries.
“Portfolium will serve as a smart hub for our students to expertly showcase their best work and will enable connections with potential employers, researchers, and other students,” said Stefanie Metko, Director, Teaching and Learning Engagement, a unit within the University Libraries at Virginia Tech.

Brightspace to Replace eCollege in Fall 2018
By fall 2018, students and teachers will no longer be using eCollege for online courses and will instead be using Brightspace, a new learning management system (LMS) reported to provide a better layout, more efficiency, and fewer complications.
“Pearson is the parent company that owns eCollege and owns the product and they are retiring it,” Educational Technology Innovations Manager Mike Smith said. “Even if we wanted to stay with eCollege, which we don’t, we would have no other option.”

Universidad del Valle de Guatemala Adopta Plataforma Educativa Canvas Para Mejorar el Acceso a la Enseñanza Superior
Instructure, manufacturers of the Canvas educational platform, announced that it was selected by the University of the Valley of Guatemala (UVG) to offer a Learning Management Platform in the whole institution.
The central campus of Guatemala City used Blackboard, but when faced with the challenge of growth in its other two campuses in rural areas, the university would have to implement two other local solutions, or look for a service in the cloud that would also meet the requirements mobile of rural campuses.
The rural campuses experimented for many years with Sakai, but the platform was difficult for the teachers, the local service was sometimes not reliable and was not available for mobile devices, as a consequence, the system was not very adopted.

D2L, a global learning technology leader, has announced that the University of Huddersfield, a gold-rated University by the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) and the winner of the first Global Teaching Excellence Award, has chosen its Brightspace learning experience platform to deliver a more engaging, personalized online learning experience for its students.
“With technology already heavily embedded into the teaching culture at the university, we were fully aware of the impact the right tools can have on the learning experience,” said Andrew Raistrick, business analyst and project manager at the University of Huddersfield. “Our tendering process involved over 2,000 criteria and the usability test had four separate sections: student usability, basic staff testing, advanced staff to push the boundaries of the product, and admin staff testing. After this long process, Brightspace came out on top.”
