Important Note to All Our Readers
As you can imagine, we have several different ways of getting our information. Since no method is perfect, we use multiple types of scrapers to acquire data from websites. Some tools concentrate on specific products, others on news websites or social media. Some product groups get mentioned by students, while others don’t.
Roughly two weeks ago, we noticed that one of our scrapers was not working correctly. The issue was traced back to December 2020, when we upgraded this site crawler with new features. Sadly, one unexpected downside of this upgrade was that it no longer scrapped specific LMS targets at the K-12 level.
Because we get our info from multiple methods, we still collected a high amount of data but, since correcting the scraper, we noticed that Canvas seems more impacted than the other products. At this point, we are still investigating why, but we wanted to be transparent with you, our readers. We are hoping to have everything back to normal by the end of the year.
As a result, this situation means that our 2020 and 2021 data for K-12 LMS and, more specifically, Canvas, is lower than it should be.
We apologize for this inconvenience.
